Faith – My Story

My name is Melodie. I am a Christian wife, mother, grandmother, sister, daughter, and friend. I grew up going to church with my great grandmother and have such fond memories of going with her (I also remember those not so gentle little pinches under my arm when I’d get to fidgety or talkative in church LOL). I accepted Christ as my personal savior as a teenager. Through life, I went my own way several times. Always finding my way back to my Heavenly Father.

In 1998 I was diagnosed with cervical cancer (3 biopsies confirmed). I had already had 2 children by this time (after being told at age 18 that I’d never be able to have children – long story). My doctor at the time was insistent that I needed to have a complete hysterectomy immediately. He said the cancer was aggressive and it couldn’t wait. He had me scheduled for surgery within the week. That night (it was a Wednesday in early March of that year) I went to church and decided to go to the altar for prayer. I just couldn’t believe this was happening. But it was in God’s hands. My church family laid hands on me and prayed a prayer of faith that God would completely heal my body. I was healed. Yes, I could feel it. It was like a fire washing over my body from my pelvic area up to my head. Baptized in the Holy Spirit all at the same time. I knew God healed me. I called my doctor and cancelled the hysterectomy. He kept insisting that I was wrong and that I would die without the surgery. I asked him what would it take to prove to him I was healed. He said another biopsy so he could prove to me that I was not healed. We did that. It was negative. MY GOD HEALS!!!! Exactly 9 months and 2 weeks later my 3rd child was born. And I went on to have a 4th child. All boys. LOL. God knew that’s what I needed. All of them are my miracle babies. God heals. God is God and He is bigger than any obstacle we can ever face.

I have many stories of how God has touched my life, and the lives of my children. But they are too many to tell in one blog post…..I will continue my story in other posts. But on to what brings about the Faith section of my site and how it connects to crafting and friends………

We each connect with God in our own way. Art & journaling is a great way to make this connection. For me, it helps me to focus on the Word, it inspires me to dig deeper and helps me to put to memory the passages that have stood out the most.

Creative Worship, to me, is not about the art though. It’s about connecting with God’s Word in your own way.  It is meant to offer a personal way for you to go deeper into His Word and to grow closer to Him by knowing Him better.  There is no wrong or right way to creatively express yourself or to journal.   Perhaps you’ll learn a new way to connect with God through creative expression.

You don’t feel artistically inclined? That’s ok. As said above, it’s not about the art. And there are so many ways to creatively express your worship. My blog is new (as of July 2019) but I hope to have it full of inspirational and educational posts that will help you along your creative worship journey.

So as you read through the posts here feel free to ask questions, give feedback, and interact. I’m always looking forward to meeting new people. And I hope something here inspires you to get creative in your worship.
